Thank you! It was once brought up in another thread about first person, but I think it's worth repeating.

Although I do think that in the majority of first person-hate cases people refer to fanfiction that switches canonical POV to first person POV. Not to original fiction or to canon!first person. Obviously it's stupid to say that Sherlock Holmes fanfiction written the way the canon is written is defective.

(but I've always found Wells' narrators mightily creepy. They don't actually have any characterizations)

Also James Herriot, Dante, Jerome-Jerome, and C.S. Lewis.
