I am definitely not a 1st person POV fan, but at the same time, I don't think it's inherently a 'crappy' POV, or that all writers who write in 1st person are crappy.

I just find it very hard to get into a book when I'm seeing it through the main character's eyes, as opposed to being sort of an objective outsider. It feels awkward (to me). Does this mean I won't read 1st person at all? Not at all, I love the Stephanie Plum novels and they're all written in 1st person.

However, I do find that it definitely does influence whether I'm likely to try a novel (or fic, or whatever) as opposed to other points of view.
