Agreed, the arguments against first person are either completely ridiculous and untrue, or else stem from person dislike. I'll read and write things in the first person if that's the way the story can be best conveyed. Ditto the third person. Each has it's strengths and weaknesses as a literary device.

I also think that 1st person is basically a bug up fandom's butt, to go along with calling all OC's Sues. Actual published books come in both varieties, and *gasp* even a mix of first and third person.
