no clue what he's like off stage/screen, just didn't like him in thgttg, sherlock & hobbit, because he was /exactly/ just 100% the same as in the office (where i liked him, ngl).

didn't work for me as arthur dent, watson or bilbo, so just saying ppl not stanning for him might be nothing to do with them having tin ears regarding sarcasm

Yeah as much as I loved The Hobbit, while watching the scenes in Bilbo's house it really felt like re-watching Watson scenes with him complaining in his armchair and then reluctantly joining the crazy save-the-day effort.

You've only seen him in 3 roles, which does give a good gauge of what he can do. Believe me, he's capable and has done very different ones, but they're less well-known.
