My sister complains every time an eagle vocalizes and makes a red-tailed hawk noise. (Read: every time an eagle vocalizes in movies or TV. The scream is a hawk. The noise actually made by eagles is more ak-ak-ak-ak-ak.)

OP
Or how 'kookaburra call' = 'South American/African jungle sounds' in so many movies. Noooooooo!

I've totally never seen a Kookaburra's call being butchered in a movie, but if I ever do I will be v. v. v. angry. Kookaburras sound awesome as it is, why would you change that?

OP
I've heard it used a lot as generic background jungle noise. :/

Cool story: When I was five I had a Lion King ~interactive activity game~ and the opening music contained a kookaburra call. In retrospect, that drives me bonkers.
maverickz3r0: tardis sitting on grassy field with words the world i love (did you see that?)

That is enough to throw me out of something. Probably because we have both eagles and red-tailed hawks around here, so if I hear that cry I automatically look for a hawk.
