But I feel your pain, OP. I have little things that bug me too.
But hey, who knows? Maybe people will start doing it right.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-05 12:53 am (UTC)(link)They did the eye-shine correctly in the Hobbit with Gollum and that was pretty dang dramatic and scary.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-05 12:56 am (UTC)(link)As I said to another commenter, they got the eye-shine right for Gollum in the Hobbit and that looked pretty dang cool. There's really no reason to not do it correctly.
(IIRC Blade Runner also correctly used red-eye, which is similar but not exactly the same as eye-shine, to good effect.)

(Anonymous) 2013-02-05 01:27 am (UTC)(link)Which is way more aggravating than movies focussing on FFX

Just like Grizzly bears don't really roar and gun silencers don't work as well in RL as in movies. And an hundred other examples where entertainment "lies" to you, because it sounds/looks cooler.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-05 01:03 am (UTC)(link)Yeah but there are movies out there that do things correctly and it works very well, so whenever I see a movie NOT do something correctly, I automatically assume it's because they're being lazy. Which isn't a fair assumption to make, but that's what happens on my end.
Yeah the bear roar and gun silencer things annoy me too. Things like that and the eye-shine thing don't necessarily ruin a movie for me. They just make me irrationally angry because it would have been just as easy to do things the right way instead of the popular way.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-05 01:05 am (UTC)(link)Or how 'kookaburra call' = 'South American/African jungle sounds' in so many movies. Noooooooo!

(Anonymous) 2013-02-05 01:19 am (UTC)(link)That's kinda what brought on my secret. There ARE movies out there that do eye-shine correctly, so it's not like this is any great secret. You just have to look at an animal at night, for goodness' sake.
