Anyway, Ashes to Ashes is ok. Keeley Hawes is simply not as good an actor as John Simm, but she does improve over the series. I like S1 best of the 3, because the family connection is messed up in a really good way. Chris and Ray get a lot of good stuff to do, and Shaz is a welcome addition to the cast. As to Gene- Season 3 explains the world Alex and Sam wound up in, and you might not like it or want to keep it a mystery.
The move to London is kind of annoying to me- I've gone on before about how I feel Manchester was another supporting character in Life on Mars, but it's true! London just isn't the same. But I do like that they explore some paradoxical stuff that they didn't address at all in Life on Mars.
Watch it if you want to, but don't feel like you're obligated to.
