So my girlfriend was at her university since the early hours and I was working at my shitty job all day so neither of us had seen the newspapers about gay marriage because we're exhausted most of the time. But I come home and read the newspaper and see it- I know it's too soon and not confirmed yet- and it was liked I- I dunno. I was happy!

Later the door unlocks and she steps in. It's pouring with rain and the weather's so shit, like raining and snowing and really high winds so her make up is dribbling and her hair's a mess and I loved her.

So I dropped to my knee right there- we'd talked about it for a while- civil unions not marriage- and asked her then and there. In the shitty hallway with mould on the walls and her in her silly yellow wellington boots.

And she bursts into tears and says YES!

Yes. YES! she said yes.

and the only reason I'm typing this is because she's still on the phone talking to her sister and parents at 1 in the morning. we've been ringing everyone. we haven't had dinner. she's doing her masters and i'm working and we're both in a mountain of debt but I don't care and I love her and i love you anon and things are going to be GREAT and GOOD in the future.
