Spoilers for the comic 'The Search' Again, spoilers.

Welllllll, a few pages have been posted online, and now there's a rumor floating around that Ozai might not be Zuko's father. Apparently Zuko's father might be Ursa's first love, who she had to leave after Ozai chose her to be his wife.

I don't know how I feel about that. I sort of hope the rumor isn't true, Zuko has enough issues as is.

If that's true, ouch for poor Zuko. Poor kid can't catch a break when it comes to familia matters :( But having said that, Zuko looks so much like Azula, that I would be surprised if they had different fathers.

Yeah, I don't like that. Just piling on the issues is kind of bad storytelling in my opinion.

Yeah I hope that's not true, cuz it really just seems like a lazy way to explain why Zuko isn't like Ozai and it kills the nuance of how he manages to be a good person in spite of who his father was. Basically it implies that Zuko's niceness can only be genetic from his father's side-- it erases Ursa's influence on him.

It also seems like a lazy way to say, "See, this is why Ozai treated him so badly!". d-:

Not a big fan of the idea. Also, wouldn't that totally invalidate the whole thing from the end of 'The Avatar and the Firelord' about how Zuko is related to both Sozin and Roku?

EXACTLY THIS! That episode came on TV just the other day, and the reveal of Zuko's grandfathers was still cool. Why would they want to cheapen this?

I know I'm a horrible person, but I kind of hope that Ozai is Zuko's father, but Azula is actually this other guy's child, conceived when Ursa snuck away and had an affair with this guy.

Only then that's all sorts of unfortunate implications for why Ursa didn't love Azula (unless Azula was lying/Ursa couldn't get along/figure out her daughter, but that didn't mean she hated her, only Azula meant it meant hate, etc.), but I still kind of want to read that...

I read a fanfic where Azula was Ursa's daughter with Iroh. That was something.

It's Nickelodeon-licensed. I don't think it would get past the censors.

(inb4 "what censors?" Yes, they still exist, people.)
