Apparently. Or at least that's what everyone believes. More opportunities to make toys to sell, after all.

Hard to say though, cause the 'source' for this (That Hasbro ordered it) is someone claiming to be an animator or something, but people are of course skeptical about it.

Then again, some of it may just be denial since the same source said Derpy Hooves is gone forever, also by Hasbro's command.

That's what I've heard anyway.

That Hasbro ordered it makes sense. The creator mentioned in some of her deviantart posts that they had to write entire episodes around a new toy that Hasbro wanted to create.

It does exist. It was shown on tv and saved by many of us for forever.

You might not like it but it happened. And they never renamed her.

Besides, we are as stubborn as you. They could bring her back for season 4 as the new Rainbow Dash and we'd still call her Derpy.

Derpy was the fanon name for Ditzy Doo, given to her by 4chan bronies. In 'Winter Wrap up' Rainbow Dash mentions her. The 4chan fans ended up naming her "Derpy", and so the writers put in a little nod to them in the show. The name was offensive and was changed back to her original name, Ditzy Doo. :)

Are you sure the source said Derpy herself would be gone, or just the name? Because the name is definitely out.

I saw that post. They are now saying that source is discredited (but I don't know the story so that's second hand) but the source, be it truthful or not, said

A. Derpy was gone. They had less cameos in season 3 as a phase out and she simply won't appear as of season 4.

B. Alicorn Twilight was entirely a Hasboro Mandate. Nobody had that idea, it was "we want to sell this toy, put it in."

C. There's something happening in the next season that will make the Alicorn Twilight thing seem minor.

Of course, the crystal ponies weren't perpetual, so there is a school of thought that theorizes twilight is going to switch right back, and we've all been taken in for a good troll to wank over nothing.

I think she will be an alicorn briefly and then return to normal for a while/most of season 4, but that's me... I haven't been following spoilers so maybe someone knows if there is any word of God on the matter.

I haven't watched in a few seasons, and I suspect this is what TS will do. She'll find out becoming a Princess means she has to give up her friends or something, and she'll decide to give up being a Princess instead.

Naturally, there will be a qualifier on it that she'll think about becoming a Princess again when the time is right, or when she's a little more grown up, or something.

She's staying an alicorn. In the press release for the episode, there's a quote that assures viewers that even though her appearance has now changed, she'll still have the same personality. Season four will be about her new challenges as a princess.
