Can I just say I totally called it? (Well, actually, I called that the entire mane six would become alicorns, because together they are the Elements of Harmony. I think that would have been fairer. Also I imagined them as the same size as they are now. And without the weird gown. Oh well.)

Apparently. Or at least that's what everyone believes. More opportunities to make toys to sell, after all.

Hard to say though, cause the 'source' for this (That Hasbro ordered it) is someone claiming to be an animator or something, but people are of course skeptical about it.

Then again, some of it may just be denial since the same source said Derpy Hooves is gone forever, also by Hasbro's command.

That's what I've heard anyway.

I'd had a lot more confidence in this development if it were before the ham-handedness of Shiny and Cadence's introduction and the really uneven third season. They have handled some toyselling plot points well, but they've also handled some terribly, and the show's lost a lot of its charm without Faust.

I don't think the "buffalos are native americans and HAVE to share their land with settler ponies" and the "you should believe in shit even though there is no scientific evidence" episodes weren't that charming.

Faust isn't some goddess. She always leaves her projects early on for no apparent reason and her Galaxy Girls stuff is just a rehash of FiM with some Sailor Moon thrown in for good measure.

It was cool of her to take on MLP, but as she has said herself, she thought the earlier gens were lacking - and still she took all Mane Six characters, even entire plot points from them.
This "Faust would have made everything better" mentality has to go. She's just a person.

Same. Reading some of the fans whining is hilarious to me as well.

Actually, I kinda like this idea, as I said it yesterday in the gc section it's a great opportunity to see Twilight develop, we started the show with her making these friends, it would be interesting to see how or if they dynamics change now.

I find the whining hilarious, since in the first season, everyone was speculating that, yes, Twilight was destined to become an alicorn princess. ('Because she's named Twilight, duh.')

Now that they're actually doing it, they're up in arms about it.

I prefer the idea of Twilight as an essentially normal unicorn who can beat alicorns at their own game--it feeds into my anti-authority sentiments--but I guess I can live with this. Just don't expect me to acknowledge it if I write a fic in this setting.

Jesus Christ. Couldn't they have done this before Christmas or my 6 year old's birthday when everyone was asking me what to get her? She already has every fucking pony possible. My living room looks like there was a massive pony/marvel superhero war and I can't tell who won.

(Oddly, my 6 year old tells me it was a wedding. I think Twilight married Magneto. Now THAT's a show I would watch.)

I wonder if she is going to take over Celestia's role. There is a theory that Celestia might be slowly dying considering how useless she is in a real fight.

What disturbs me about it is that Twilight's "ranking up", as it were. Changing classes (from assumed-middle to upper class), changing races (from unicorn to alicorn, who have been consistently portrayed as more lovely/mysterious/powerful), I don't know. It doesn't sit well with me.

OKay has anybody actually read the finale synopsis? Twilight accidentally switches everybody's cutie marks and destinies, presumably this means she gets Celestia's and is temporarily an alicorn until she fixes what she's done.

Everybody's back to their proper cutie marks and destinies and Twilight is Twilight again, boom. Crisis over.
