Re: Stupid question about spoilers

I think sometimes it depends on the popularity of the material. Like, fans of popular, ongoing t.v. shows will probably stop worrying about spoiler notes a week or so after an episode has aired. That is assuming they are in a circle with other fans who watch the show to that point. Some fic or what all will still have warnings, for newbie fans, or people who are catching up.
That being said, take a book that came out in the 80's, that is fairly well-known, doesn't have any 'twists' that are famous, but still has some solid spoilers lurking in it. That may still be warned for, depending on where you go. But, no one's going to warn for, like, Star Wars.
