It depends. If it's a Big Deal, I'll mark it as a spoiler for months... I think I may have marked something as a spoiler that was close to a year old, though I can't say for certain.

Also, now that Game of Thrones is a thing, I marka tonnnnn of things as spoilers from the books. If there weren't a show, there are still very large events I'd tag as a spoiler, regardless of time passed (e.g. the RW.)
