I prefer dubs, they are easier to watch. You can treat them just like a regular show instead of having to stay 100% focused 100% of the time in case you miss a couple of sentences by looking away. That is probably why the uber-sub fans hate dubs. You no longer have to treat them as the ultra-special serious business, and can watch them while doing other things. The show is no longer an exclusive commodity for those that want to have to pay super-close attention, but a common one for people who just kick back and relax.

That and a lot of sub fans are pretty autistic about stuff so anything that doesn't enforce complete attention is something they hate. Subs are something that justifies the autistic obsession, dubs don't.

Those are some fucked up generalizations you are making there.

This. "Autism", seriously now?

Whoa whoa whoa, autism has *literally* nothing to do the dubs versus subs debate. I agree with your points, but dragging autism in to it makes you both lose credibility and look like a jerk.

On the contrary, I find subs a lot easier to watch. Partly because they help you learn all the names and jargon when you're starting a new series, and partly because you don't have to worry about missing lines when the characters are whispering, talking over each other, etc. I actually tend to turn them on even when I'm watching something in English.

Also, I'm with the other anon on the autism thing. Not cool.

AGREED! Subs help me get a better orientation of things and sometimes you hear something that is difficult to make out, but with subs you can see it plainly written.

Not to mention it helps you learn the language. If I ever watch a foreign film whether it's French, Chinese, Japanese or whatever... I watch it subbed.

haha oh wow, way to make dub fans look like arrogant assholes with your completely RIDICULOUS and unfounded association with Autism and liking Subtitled anime. (How does one even MAKE this connection?!)

I have a couple of friends who are on completely different ends of the Autism spectrum and both of them happen to prefer dubbed anime. So maybe you need to get out more.

Autism isn't an adjective to fling around, this isn't /a/
