She was a woman with power and agency of her own and her mind set was so completely fascinating and fucked up. You don't get a lot of awful women villians as thought out and complex and Dolores Umbridge.

And because, to this day, she is the only fictional character that I ever knew to get an honest, visceral reaction from my Dad. (Specifically, he came home one day, having listened to some of OotP in the car, and said, without any prompting, "I want to drive nails into her eyes.")
Bella Swan is just hateful, though. Beyond all the simpery teenage love, I just can't get past how terribly she treats her father and how justified she feels in doing so.

Then again, I also remember reading a little blurb that broke down what the events of the story looked like from Charlie's point of view (given only what he knows and sees) and thought it looked like the very worst lifetime story of a parent helpless to save their child from an abusive cult, so...
