I was one of those people who used to leave the closed captioning on when I watched TV all the time. I did that til I was at least fifteen. It helps me to focus on what I'm watching more, because if I don't do that I'll get twitchy and only half-pay attention while picking up something to read/a video game. It's really not difficult for me to pay attention to both, because I inadvertently trained myself into it.
Though I have to say, the video games that I've played with voice acting have certainly gotten better over the years. I actually like the English voices for Fire Emblem Awakening. That's kinda amazing for me, since I didn't think dubbed games would reach a decent level for a while.
