I feel you OP! An impossible crush is much easier, as in a fictional character; you can indulge in daydreaming without remorse because you know is never going to happen because of the impossibility of their existence.

But It always creeps me out when I think I might be crushing on a celebrity, I feel like I'm offending them by having impure thoughts about them.

OP here. I think you worded this perfectly! I always crush on a character, mostly because watching them in a movie/tv show makes you feel like you know them, you know how they act, how they feel, and it's so much easier to immerse in their world. Most of the time I don't really care that much about the real person, although I usually do admire them.

Recently I've been crushing on an actor, who mostly does theater, so he's not all that well known and I know next to nothing about him personally except that he's married and has kids. I've been admiring him for a long time, but never thought about him as somebody I might get a crush on. Now I feel weird and embarrassed, since I don't have any right to feel that way about this person. I think, as you said, I feel like I'm offending him with it.
