I pretend to be all for body positivity, but the truth is I'm very, very, very, VERY glad I'm not fat anymore. I'd rather die than get fat again.

This is me, basically. I mean, I don't care if my friends are fat, and I've dated fat girls (although I can't get attracted to fat boys for some reason), but for myself? I love being thin. I used to be fat and I'm so much happier not being fat anymore.

As long as you don't think being fat has an effect on someone's worth as a person, you're plenty body positive.

This whole "you must define yourself by your body and never ever change" thing is fucking toxic.

Just because you don't want something/want something different for yourself doesn't mean you can't respect other people's lives and choices. Being body positive doesn't mean not caring about your own body and appearance, it means not placing worth or value on such things (ie, not thinking you're "better" for being thin/others are "worse" for being fat). You should always do what you need to for your own happiness and well-being, and you shouldn't be ashamed of that.

I'm afraid of how much I care about never gaining weight.

Body/fat positivity is all about it being okay to be fat, not that everyone should be fat. If you agree with that, that is body positivity! I'm glad that you're happy with yourself, but I guess I'm a bit worried about why you'd rather BE DEAD than get fat again.

That bit caught my attention, too.

You'd rather die than be fat again? That's a little bit terrifying, OP. :(

I'm not "body positive" anon, so you're doing better than I am. If that makes you feel better.

Obesity is an epidemic. Telling people it's okay to be not eat properly an excercise regularly is the same as telling them it's fine to share used needles with people who are HIV+.

I struggle with this issue. It's something I'm really really ashamed of, but I do tend to judge obese people harshly. I know it's wrong and I shouldn't do it, but I have a lot of issues with body image and weight and it's something I'm working on. But I never ever would actually lecture or demean or anything to someone about this, it's just an issue that I personally struggle with in my head, you knwo?

I don't think it's bad to judge people harshly for being obese so much as it is bad to react harshly. Yeah I judge the hell out of all of my friends who used to be fit but who have gained 30-50lbs while I've actually lost weight and gained muscle since highschool.

Shitty lifestyles and laziness are not qualities that people should be rewarded for, but nor should they be made to feel totally responsible. A lot of it comes down to lack of education and lack of resources, and it's only partially their fault if they don't have either of those to work with.

Nah, I didn't post in that thread due to an inability to give a fuck.

Whereas I thought it was much more likely that one of these two was the OP of that thread, what with the body- and behavior-policing and judging.
