I'm sick and tired of the seemingly universal anti-slut-shaming crusade. And I don't use that word lightly. I personally -- not because of any religious affiliation, and not because I'm particularly young or old (I'm 21) -- believe that being "slutty" is a shameful thing. Do I go around lecturing people on it? No. Do I want to? Sometimes, but I'm not stupid enough to try and force my opinions on people who obviously don't agree.

But here's the thing: from what I've seen on the internet, especially in the past year or so, it's not even okay to mention that I have this belief. It's not okay to even bring up the possibility of anyone having a different opinion than this particular majority, because accepting any and all expressions of sexuality is the One True Way to be a feminist, and anyone who thinks it's the least bit distasteful or non-ideal is seen as a raging misogynist.

(It might be worthy of note that feminism involves, among other things, the idea that women and men should be held to the same standards, and I feel the exact same way about a male slut as I do about one who is female...if not more so, because I freely admit to being a bit of a misandrist...but let's not get too caught up in pedantics.)

When there is one belief that people can rant about to their heart's content without anybody batting an eye, and the other belief will get you verbally mauled and beaten down if you're suspected of adhering to it...that is what drives me crazy.

So yes, I am a slut-shamer. (A passive one, if you really want to make that distinction, but I'm sure most people don't.) And you know what? I used to be apathetic about the issue. I had my opinion, but it wasn't something I cared much about. It was just something I thought, nothing more. But the sheer polarity has changed things for me. I'm proud of it now. Proud to think what I think, because I feel so suppressed about it.

So if you're still so adamant about the issue that you think I should go to hell for my belief...then nice job breaking it, hero, because now I can't be won over. Now I believe it even more strongly. And someday I might get too annoyed to keep my mouth shut anymore. Group polarization is very satisfying; I'd hate to see anything happen to yours...

My family are all very religious - pretty zealously so in their own ways. I am a confirmed Atheist. I don't talk about that to my family. I don't challenge them when they say things that sound preposterous to me. I resort to the most benign platitudes I can when they talk about the power of prayer because I don't want to hurt them.

But fuck it, I am sick of them not extending me the same courtesy. They tell me how they're praying for me. My sister asks me questions about interpretation of scripture for which I actually have no answer because I can't say "I think it's all utter nonsense".

I'm scared some day I'm going to explode and say something that will hurt them a lot but for fuck sake, I've been changing the subject and trying to find new ways of politely bowing out of their god talk for six years now. I'm at the end of my tether.

I can't stand it when women talk about how they hate "Advice to prevent rape" such as watching your drink, don't wander around alone in bad neighborhoods, don't get so drunk at parties you don't know what is going on, and learning how to defend oneself.

And they say it because, "They shouldn't have to do that, men should just not rape." How fucking stupid are you? People know rape is bad, it doesn't stop rapists. Just like how murder is bad, but there are still people being murdered.

There ARE things you can do to lower your chances of being raped (like the things that were mentioned above). These things will also lower your chances of being murdered, robbed, and/or assaulted.

I'm at a point in my life where I really need to start getting my shit together but it's so hard to plan for the future when I don't feel mentally stable enough to handle anything.

I think I'm doing better then last year but I still tell myself I'm going to kill myself every day.

I don't know how to be a functioning adult. I wish I had someone besides me to help me.

When I was a teenager I had a lot of crushes on female teachers which I hear is a very common thing for wee lesbians. No problem.

But I've never gotten past it? I am still exclusively attracted to significantly older women in positions of authority.

I don't know what that makes me or what the hell to do about it.

I'm always exhausted, I can't seem to bring myself to care about school or the future anymore beyond a vague sort of all-consuming dread, and I've had more self-loathing thoughts in the past three months than in the rest of my memory.

But I'm not in trouble, and I'm definitely not depressed. I'll snap out of it, because I always do, but keeping my mouth shut is probably not helping so I just want to get this off my chest.

I kind of want to want to kill myself. I feel terribly alone most of the time and like i won't be able to ever figure out how to live as an adult. That every attempt i do at making meaningful connections with people and the career endeavors i want to do will come to nothing.

And yet i know i don't have it in me to kill myself. i like life, in the sense that i like to be creative and i like knowing about the world and its people even if it's hard to be happy in it and i have to observe from a corner. i don't want to resign myself to this but i don't know where to turn for help. i feel like i've heard everything a therapist has to say (i've been there before) and that it'll never get through to me. mostly i feel a little bit broken. Just not enough to want to end it because i know that isn't worth it, and i can take a bit of pride on that. But then, where does that leave me?

My friend is queer like me but she has had the fortune of finding multiple partners to sleep with. While I'm still a gay virgin at 25. I'm a stupid gay man who gets these petty jealousy fits that people 5 years younger than me have more game. Yes I know this is petty and ridiculous to get envy over this, but it's a gut reaction. :/

I still love her as my friend and give her high fives every time she scores. Because really I WISH I was in her position, and she really deserves it because she's an awesome girl. But sometimes I can't help and be like I have shitty luck in finding where the gay men are at. Like do I need OK Cupid or what.

I can't stand the Health at Every Size movement. Yes, it's possible to be healthy and fit if you are overweight, but if you can't climb the stairs to the second floor without getting winded or if your joints start aching after walking for a few blocks, you are neither healthy nor fit.

For many people it's impossible to be healthy while severely overweight, and trying to convince them otherwise is doing them a huge disservice.

Whenever anyone catches me talking to myself I tell them I'm just thinking out loud. Technically, I am. However, I do this by personifying some idea or trait that I can talk to. It makes it easier to figure out solutions to problems that way. Of course, if I actually said this they would think I believed these were real people I was talking to, or hallucinations, or something like that. No, it's just me. I am just talking to myself. I just made an imaginary representation of something. It's really no big deal but apparently it is?

I kind of get off on how weirdly voyeuristic my bf's twin brother is. He'll make random excuses to go into my bf's dorm when we're getting it on, and this morning he came in and sat on my bf's bed while he was asleep, eating cereal. My bf's caught him a few times and gets mad at him, but I think it would be awesome if we could have a threesome.

...Probably not going to happen, though.

I've hardly been in to university this year. I didn't hand any of my projects in last term and I've barely started working on this term's, even though we're nearly halfway through. I keep ignoring my course leader when he tries to schedule chats with me.

I did the same thing last year and was extremely lucky to pass, I did it in college as well, and I don't know why the fuck I keep doing it! This is what I have to do to get the career I want more than anything and if I actually went in to university I would be doing the work I want to be doing! Why can't I make myself go in? What the fuck is wrong with me?

I think university life is not for me but I don't know where to start looking into other ways of learning my trade and the thought of my family's disappointment if they found out I was doing this shit again is utterly paralyzing.

I'm a bi man, who's more strongly into women then men.

I could probably go my entire life without having sex with another man, I just find it enjoyable. My self conception is straight, it's how I consider myself, though I'll sometimes recognise online that I'm not (to help win arguments about privilege obviously :3).

Probably because of this, I have a complete disconnect from queer culture, outside liking the aesthetics of a lot of the old rock - see Bowie and etc, and find myself occasionally thinking really unpleasant and judgemental things about camp or out gay men.

I really hate this whole "google it yourself" attitude people tend to have, especially when somebody's asking for resources for something unusual/misunderstood/misrepresented. Yeah, I could google it, but I've no idea what's legit and what's not - why are people so fucking against a request for a starting point? jfc...

And the lack of a response at all, even when asking about something in a place where people talk about it like they fucking know what they're on about, just makes me doubt anybody's crusade to make the subject better understood. I can't learn this by osmosis, my god...

I wish I had more sexual experience in the past than I actually do. I'm not half as experienced as people think I am. It makes me feel a bit weird being the odd one out while people younger than me have more experience than I do.

I'm actually bisexual (or pansexual? IDK) but I'm starting to call myself a lesbian more and more or let it be assumed that I'm a lesbian because I'd rather deal with homophobia from one side than biphobia from both.
