Yup. Though I always got the impression that she just had a big chest, not so much fuller-figured. But it has been a while since I read them (Potential spolier: I hate her husband pretty much since the end of the second book, so any time he shows up I get pissy)

I thought early descriptions just made her sound large-chested, but she was progressively described as more curvy/chubby through the series.

(I thought her husband's assumption was somewhat reasonable, but I was terribly disappointed by the so-called "groveling" that was done and the fact that by the end of book 3 and onwards, they're lovey-dovey as if nothing ever happened. Oh, and Alexia's content with being bought off with expensive trinkets to make up for things. Kinda spoiled their relationship for me.)

I guess it was reasonable, but at the same time....the way he just DISMISSED her. (then again, how lovely and Victorian of him -_-)

Personally, I just want more Lord Alkidama, or however you spell his name. He's a fantastic character.

It was an awful thing to do, but, at the time, it made sense to me. I was shocked for Alexia and so looked forward to how he would fix things in the future, only to be totally underwhelmed. The apology-resolution was not nearly enough on par emotionally with his dismissal. Hell, it wasn't even on par with his book 1 groveling, since all we get is a partial sample of his published retraction. It was all so secondhand and unemotional compared to the tense pages of Alexia fleeing Scotland. *has many feels on this*

Yes! I'd be happy with a spin-off of him and his drones being well-dressed and tasteful and spying on everyone. :)

(spoiler alert!)

... but isn't she described as more chubby through the series because she's pregnant? That's not really the same thing as the author deliberately creating a fuller-figured character, surely.

Yeah, I thought the "groveling" and the reconciliation was a let down, too.

Well, I recall a scene in which Alexia mentally revises her "swan dive" as less swan and more "beached-sea-mammal," and that ought to have been when she wasn't showing her pregnancy yet. (But come to think of it, I think the author may have gotten confused as to how far along Alexia was supposed to be, what with various little comments about feeling the baby react to something.)

Lord Maccon also has expressed some preferences towards a woman having meat on her bones rather than being a waif... though some of that might be some actual muscle rather than fat, based on some comment of Alexia's. Alexia is also described as a big eater (but also a taker of walks for exercise, not that we ever see her do so). Her female relations liked to scold her for not watching her figure, but I don't think we're supposed to believe their opinions on anything. So *shrug*.

Personally, I picture her as being just slightly overweight with a physique that centers her weight in her breasts and hips. So not a size 0 model, but not, as someone else put it, a Victorian size 16, and not, as you say, a deliberately full-figured character.

I read one book, and was decidedly 'meh' about it. I prefer my steampunk visual, for the most part, and there just wasn't much to grab my interest in the books.

Ditto. The steampunk elements were pretty light in the first book. I hear it's more emphasized later in the series, but primarily Soulless read like a historical paranormal to me.

I can understand that. And while there were obvious stempunk elements, I still can't help but feel that the books lean more on the supernatural aspects--which isn't bad, just less steampunk.

That's true. And the Supernatural elements were kinda staid as well. Vampires and Werewolves? Been done. A lot.
