(I thought her husband's assumption was somewhat reasonable, but I was terribly disappointed by the so-called "groveling" that was done and the fact that by the end of book 3 and onwards, they're lovey-dovey as if nothing ever happened. Oh, and Alexia's content with being bought off with expensive trinkets to make up for things. Kinda spoiled their relationship for me.)

Personally, I just want more Lord Alkidama, or however you spell his name. He's a fantastic character.

Yes! I'd be happy with a spin-off of him and his drones being well-dressed and tasteful and spying on everyone. :)

(Anonymous) 2013-02-13 05:16 am (UTC)(link)... but isn't she described as more chubby through the series because she's pregnant? That's not really the same thing as the author deliberately creating a fuller-figured character, surely.
Yeah, I thought the "groveling" and the reconciliation was a let down, too.

Lord Maccon also has expressed some preferences towards a woman having meat on her bones rather than being a waif... though some of that might be some actual muscle rather than fat, based on some comment of Alexia's. Alexia is also described as a big eater (but also a taker of walks for exercise, not that we ever see her do so). Her female relations liked to scold her for not watching her figure, but I don't think we're supposed to believe their opinions on anything. So *shrug*.
Personally, I picture her as being just slightly overweight with a physique that centers her weight in her breasts and hips. So not a size 0 model, but not, as someone else put it, a Victorian size 16, and not, as you say, a deliberately full-figured character.
