Not gonna lie, I used to love Frankie Boyle in spite of the *edgy* nature of his routine. Then it felt like his appearances on MTW were increasingly intended to just shock, and not even in a funny way. It became the Frankie Boyle Show. Though now we're stuck with people like Andy Parsons (who told that guy he's funny, seriously) I do occasionally miss those days even though Frankie kind of walks a fine line. Anyway, the final straw was when my dad told me that one of his colleagues went to see Frankie live and it was basically recycled jokes from his TV appearances, which I know all comedians do to some extent...but apparently Frankie is particularly bad for it?

IDK, I just don't really like him anymore no matter what his intentions. I've moved on to other comedians.

I agree. I liked old episodes of Mock the Week where he could come out with something *edgy*, but could just as much come out with something surreal or strangely sweet - but then MtW's popularity seemed to pick up on "omg Frankie Boyle SO SHOCKING" and seemed to become more "and now for something scandalous: Frankie?" I think something similar happened with Russell Howard, how both of them sort of became increasingly more one-dimensional as the show went on ("and now for something whimsical: Russell?"), and I think it was right that they left when they did.

Yeah, I don't know so much these days (now he's not on television as much and not touring as much) but I saw him back when he was on every panel show, and if you happened to be a fan of panel shows and had coincidentally seen him on every panel show, then you'd seen about 85% of his act. I can give him the benefit of the doubt for that since being a one-liner comedian spread so thin doesn't give you many places to go, but it was a bit unfortunate. Compare to, say, Jimmy Carr, who has the same style of comedy but does try to mix things up a bit for his live shows (and also appears on panel shows to say more than just his one-liners, too).

Yep, this is why I don't like him. Saw him a few years ago, and his support act was brilliant, doing loads of audience stuff with his own material. Frankie then walked out, stared at the back of the room and recited 45 minutes of material I'd heard before, along with a joke about Lewis Hamilton's brother. If I'm going to see you on tour, comedian, at least do 10% new material.
