I'm not sure. Some of the issues surrounding Craig's Bond, things like the right to authority and the consequences of turning people into weapons, the consequences of using those men-made-weapons, do appeal to me. There's just ... It's sometimes difficult to reconcile with the older portrayals, and the figure of Bond himself, at the center of it, becomes somewhat pathetic? Not weak, as such, but deserving of pity. There were previous Bonds who evoked something similar (Lazenby and Dalton), but the sense of a loss of agency attached to Craig's Bond wasn't there to the same degree with them.

Craig's Bond makes me uneasy, I think is what I'm saying. And I think he's meant to, yes, but it makes his movies more difficult to watch.

Craig's Bond always came across to me as not really having a personality. He's on the same level as a game character, he just takes an order and goes and kills something or blows something up. His movies really do come across as just a non-interactive version of a shoot 'em up. I think that is why he is so popular with a certain demographic, he's a blank self-insert for their X Box fantasies to play out on. That is why he so, unimaginative and impersonal (and also not terribly bright) as it is hard to have a character with a complex personality if you are serving a demographic devoted just to killing and blowing stuff up in a juvenile manner without complex thought. You just have to look at various internet forums to see that virtually every discussion of any characters in any franchise eventually boils down to someone going "why don't you just shoot them/blow up the building".

The other Bonds had more individualistic characters that don't map to the average gamer, and while their plans inevitably involved carnage and explosions, did so in a manner that required a distinct set up and plot first.
