Well, he's extremely unfunny, uncreative and really good at making money by being "edgy" to teenagers or people who think offensiveness is the only thing you need to be "edgy". I'm sure he's a cool, rational dude in real life, outside his comedy persona, but that doesn't make him any more funny to me.

So in all likelihood he'll keep doing what he's doing (because £££) and I'll keep hating it.

well personally i find him really funny and often creative. so, ya know, different strokes. you make him sound like a hack who does it for the money, and i can assure that he is not that.

You can 'assure'? What are you, his agent? He's a professional comedian. The clue is in the adjective. Of course he does it for the fucking money.

oh please.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-15 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
Apart from the part where he's given up stand-up?

(Anonymous) 2013-02-15 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
He isn't nice in real life, that's one of the problems and I think why his television career just was never going to last. If your colleagues and the employer just doesn't like you, it does you no favours.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-15 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh? He has a rep for being well liked in the industry.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-15 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
SA

The reason he's not on TV that much in the UK now (aside from repeats on Dave) is that producers and channel personnel in general are worried about the flack they cop from 'popular' newspapers just by having him around.

Russell Brand has a similar problem - he went on Jonathan Ross to talk about Comic Relief and the Sun lambasted it because in an unaired section of the interview, he and Ross discussed how shocking it was that everyone on TV in the 70s had turned out to be a paedophile. That was used as an argument that ITV shouldn't give screentime and money to R & B because they are a scandal (apparently overlooking that ITV was pandering to the newspapers in cutting that conversation in the first place).

Whatever else you can say about Boyle/his humour/his audience/whatever, the trajectory of his television career certainly isn't linked to his personality or even primarily to the content of his material, as odd as that sounds... British TV comedy, particularly on the BBC, is operating in a climate of (press-driven) media debate that just makes it easier to avoid certain comics than to show them, and Boyle is just one of many who are either off-screen or heavily 'diluted' now.

And say what you like about Frankie Boyle, I'd take a million of him over the fucking Daily Mail.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-15 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly :)
