Re: Really shitty series premieres
(Anonymous) 2013-02-16 03:12 am (UTC)(link)Psych is one, while I didn't consider it bad they had a whole different cop actress and they were writing Carlton a lot differently. Shawn was also very "every snarky lead in every tv show" and not really his own character yet.
Cougar Town is another though the first half the the first season is entirely weird, the original concept for the show was just not something they wanted to do long term and it quickly became about a group of friends rather then a single older woman starting over (and tbh I am glad they changed it, I was fine with early Cougar Town but it probably would have worn on me quickly.)
If we're going to talk about unaired pilots then the Buffy one is definitely strange.
And if we're going to talk about how FOX messes up, the original Dollhouse pilot was better then the one that aired, and Serenity really should have been the first to air for Firefly.
