oh, question! question!
(Anonymous) 2013-02-16 03:17 am (UTC)(link)as in, a boring-looking car would be a deal-breaker?
because I always found that weird. I mean, as long as the thing doesn't look like it's about to fall apart or something, is that really so important?
what am I missing here?
Re: oh, question! question!
The closest I can think of is some women who wouldn't date a guy who doesn't have a car at all because they don't want to taxi him around... but even that's not common, I don't think.
But the places I've lived have tended not to place a lot of value on social status compared to what I've heard of other places, so maybe I'm wrong.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-16 05:18 am (UTC)(link)oh, thanks for your perspective
tbh I haven't really heard of it or seen it irl either, beyond the fact that it is nice to be given rides so easily if you want to go someplace
I ask because I've seen this in TV and movies, like
"oh, he had a car, so instant boning *wink wink*"
and I was all like "oh, so, women think cars are sexy?? I must investigate this"

On a personal level, what I care more about is the safety of the vehicle and their driving skills. It wouldn't be a deal-breaker but I may refuse to get in the car with them. However, if I refuse to let my boyfriend drive me I can see that becoming a complication very quickly. Um... I also think a car can also tell you something about the person that bought it, but that's not really a negative. At least, not in most cases.
Re: oh, question! question!
Also my standards for what constitutes a cool car are really low. Like "Oh man this car is PURPLE it's the greatest car in the world." or "Shit this car has an interior light that actually WORKS Lap of luxury, right here."
