24. ....way to take a comic show way too seriously? Haruhi is cool. Mikuru isn't being "sexually assaulted," she's too weak to assert herself and Haruhi's taking advantage of that, as Haruhi is like to do with anyone. If you really think that's so offensive, I think you missed the actual point and message of the show. Come on.

Plus, um, Mikuru wasn't actually raped, nor did the guy actually want to rape her!

And just one more thing. Mikuru overreacts like that at everything. If you watched past the first and second episode, you might see that. I mean, she cries and curls into a ball when she's standing in an outfield trying to catch a baseball. You can't measure whether it's appropriate by whether she's curled in a ball crying.

Yes, it was sexual assault. Come on. -_-;

She was too weak to assert herself so it's not sexual assault?

Just because someone's a doormat doesn't mean it's okay to grab their boobs.

I think my phrasing came out slightly off there, but I don't see a point in arguing about it. Maybe it was sexual assault, but it still didn't come off as offensive or inappropriate to me, especially given the particulars of the situation and the fact that Mikuru cries like that about everything.

Thing is, a lot of people don't find it "cool" to take advantage of others just because you can. I like a great deal many opportunistic characters, but it's hard to justify what is obviously kind of shitty behavior. Or obviously sexual harassment, in this case.

Not that the secret isn't overreacting a tad. Losing respect for people simply for liking a character or a situation is not reasonable. I think it's a matter of realizing that liking something in fiction does not mean one approves of similar real life examples.

Just because somebody isn't strong enough to assert themselves doesn't make it not sexual assault and/or sexual harassment. And taking advantage of somebody is not right in any case. :/ -And I've never seen the show, so I have nothing to say about the "message of the show" only your comment.-
