Also, Mutant Mudds in the eshop for less than ten bucks. It's a cute 2D puzzle-ish platformer with bleep bloop background music. You're a little boy with a bowl cut and nurd glasses, and you clean up the world of mud aliens with a gun that can only have one powerup at a time. It's a game. Ofc, you can buy it on pc and everything else now, but you get THREE DEE BACKGROUNDS in this one. There's a demo for it also.
If you like rpgs, drawing handy maps, and dungeon crawling, Etrian Odyssey IV is coming out this month. I guess it's actually unfair to rec something that isn't out yet, but I know for sure that I love the previous three titles. Or if you already liked any of the previous EO games, woo you have an instabuy!!! \8D/
The Fire Emblem: Awakening game is also pretty good, if you you're a fan of turn-based srpgs, or Fire Emblem/Advance Wars style of them. But it did just come out in case you wanted to hold off buying it right away.
Dillon's Rolling Western.
Rhythm Thief is like an Elite Beat Agents/Ouendan clone, but it's also not. You dance battle and dance sneak around and dance getaway it's so awesome.
Liberation Maiden. Do you like Suda51, or Level-5? This is what happens when Grasshopper and Level-5 have a baby.
Re: 3DS recs?
A lot of it depends on what you like. As far as remakes go, there's a lot of very strong games on this system: the best, IMO, are Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Cave Story 3D. (I've also heard very good things about Tales of the Abyss, but I haven't played it myself.) I own those three and enjoy them all a lot (Cave Story especially is a wonderful game with a great spirit to it) but you have to be okay with the knowledge that you could be buying it cheaper for another system. If you've played 999, then what are you waiting forgo buy Virtue's Last Reward right this instant. (And if you haven't and you're a fan of mystery games and visual novels, I might recommend buying those two- the 3DS can play DS games, after all.)
My favorite game by far for the system is Kid Icarus: Uprising. It's absolutely wonderful, and if you go for just one game I'd make it this one! :D I love it. Also, Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance was a lot of fun, though prepare to be really confused if you're not familiar with the plot so far. (If you are up-to-date on plot details, prepare to be confused anyway.)
Oh, and I haven't played the Star Fox remake, the Paper Mario game, or Fire Emblem Awakening, but my brother has and he loves them, so maybe consider those? Or alternately, if you're cool with waiting, a new Monster Hunter game, a new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game, and Luigi's Mansion 2 are all coming out soon.
Re: 3DS recs?
I also really love:
- Tales of the Abyss (A great and long JRPG. One of my fav JRPGs.)
- Harvest Moon: A New Beginning (A farming sim with dating sim elements)
- Super Mario 3D Land (Better than the coin one in my opinion. And the 3D graphics are very good looking.)
- Style Savvy (Okay, it's kinda a kids game, but it's very addictive. Styling customers becomes like some sort of crazy crack you can't stop doing.)
- Kid Icarus: Uprising (A very fun twin-stick shooter - or stick and stylus shooter - with great gameplay.)
Have fun playing whatever game/games you choose!

(Anonymous) 2013-02-17 02:34 am (UTC)(link)Ahem. I'm also super fond of Virtue's Last Reward, especially if you played 999 on DS. Also the Ocarina of Time remake.
Stuff that's not out but I'm personally excited for: Etrian Odyssey IV, Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers and eventually Shin Megami Tensei IV.
