That would require them paying someone to write the introduction. If it's a substantial introduction which really updates the material, they'd have to pay someone who knows the material independently of the work being introduced.

I get that. I pretty much only like pining in first time stories; once the people involved are on the same page and definitely headed towards a happy ending, I have little to no interest in seeing it play out.

Maybe play role playing games with yourself as an insert? You usually can't roleplay so detailed as to make your in-game avatar hate herself. Then maybe you can write fanfiction of yourself as that character and it'll be easier that way?
