I've never heard of this, but...

That response is weird and weirdly obsessive, but at the same time, saying something like "I don't like kudos don't give me any" sounds really self-centered and ungrateful

idk, sounds like both sides were being dumb. But the dogpiling sounds way over the top for something like that.

Giving kudos out of spite is petty, but as far as I can tell, it wasn't an organized response, it was just, "Don't like kudos, eh? Have one anyway." For better or worse, "giving kudos" is just a click of a button, and you can do it anonymously, so it seems like a lot of people gave in to the impulse.
