Okay, this is a response to that secret from a while ago about someone who ships/wants to ship that pairing but can't because they think Gimli is too ugly, right?

Not really? I don't even remember that secret. I really do just find movie!Legolas pretty unattractive. I don't like Orlando Bloom's face, I guess? Gimli's fine though (not exactly my type, but fine).

(Now, I am aware that most people would find Legolas to be the more attractive of the two. But I'm not really trying to troll here.)

...Wasn't there a secret not that long ago where someone said they would love the pairing except they find movie!Gimli ugly? This is in reaction to that, isn't it?

Legolas/Gimli is an awesome pairing though, so it's a shame you feel that way.

Ah I can sorta relate? At least to the Orlando Bloom part. I think Legolas is unnaturally gorgeous, but I think orlando bloom is completely unattractive. I have to mentally separate them because for me I can't understand how someone see no appeal in can be so beautiful. It's weird.

(I'm not saying he's ugly or anything, but for me he is, if that makes sense? I hope that's not harsh...)

In a similar boat here. Though I don't find Legolas OR Orlando in general hideous or anything, his face is just... meh. It fits for characters like Legolas and Paris I guess, but I don't care to look at him otherwise lol

Yeah, I'm kind of glad that I'm good at blocking out things like Legolas' face being kind of bland and unappealing when I read fanfiction, so Legolas/Gimli can still be one of my favorite pairings.

I can relate. I always imagined elves to be divinely beautiful and everything, and that's just not Orlando Bloom in my opinion, I wish they'd done a bit more. Lee Pace isn't elf-pretty either, but they did a good job making him look the part.

Though the LOTR movies did come out over a decade ago.

I think Lee Pace matches my idea of what elves are supposed to look like a lot more than Orlando Bloom. For one, he is extremely tall and graceful. (Well, graceful as Thranduil, anyway.) Who is your idea of "elf pretty"?

Meh. I don't care much either way. Orlando is not ugly in my mindset, but neither is he high on my list of hot either. That list is currently dominated my Richard Armitage.

I do think Bloom looks better in roles where he's got dark hair - he look better over all with something more like his natural colouring. Will Turner was reasonably tasty IMO (though still not as tasty as Fíli, Kíli and Thorin).

Curiously, I have only come to mildly support the pairing of Legolas/Gimli in the aftermath of The Hobbit.

this isn't even about finding orlando bloom unattractive (which is perfectly ok and not uncommon!), it's about finding him aesthetically more difficult to swallow than this -

Do what I do, OP - find some really good fanart of that character and add it to your favorites. Then whenever you find Orlando!Legolas slipping into your mind, go and look at that fanart for a while until it goes away.
