Alice is not a Disney Princess. Jane is not a Disney Princess. Megara is not a Disney Princess. Mulan is not a Disney Princess. Sally is not a Disney Princess. Pocahontas is not a Disney Princess. THEY ARE NOT ROYALTY. They can't be princesses!

Sure, sometimes you'll see Mulan or Pocahontas thrown in with the other Disney princesses as a marketing ploy so they look multicultural. But that's just for sales and doesn't really mean anything (and they usually aren't included anyway).


...And just because Jack has the title of Pumpkin King doesn't make him an actual king or Sally a queen in the literal sense. Come on guys.

I think before people can stop doing it, though, Disney needs to stop doing it. They've erected Disney Princesses as the be all, end all of great female characters. If you're not in the princess club, you're not great because you're not going to get the same level of marketing. People are just as affected by what they see Disney marketing as Disney is by their customer's purchasing habits. It's a vicious cycle, really.
