I don't know about the singer -- because I know that's not actually what it means -- but it's definitely enough to sour me on a song.

I'm not very fond of "baby", either.

For me, "baby" has almost become a word with two different meanings: it's either a noun meaning 'very young child (infant or toddler)' (can also be used metaphorically: "Don't be such a baby"), or it's an interjection used in love songs.

... Although it threw me a bit at first when I started noticing how Bono in U2 uses "child" the same way most songwriters use "baby", come to think of it.

I can't bear it when I hear couples calling each other baby or babes, it makes me cringe.
