People really just need to get over the fact that some people hate-watch, I get that some people dislike negativity in fandom but whining about it won't really stop it.

I really just can't stand the attitude of "there can't be criticism about this show I love, EVER!" Like if you want to have happy fan times, fine, stay out of episode reviews then because you know things will not always be happy. Even when I still like a show sometimes I like deconstructing it and hearing about what people may not have liked.

And in regards to hate-watching for myself, sometimes I do it because I'm waiting for the show to turn around or in some series yes I really do want to see how it ends (god damnit introduce the Mother already HIMYM...)

This sums up my attitude on the matter precisely.

While I mostly agree with this, there are people that take it way too far on either side of the issue. You've got the people who can't take any criticism of the property and will try to shout down anyone that tries to rain on their parade, but you've also got the people that are hell-bent on dragging as many other people into hating their target as they can. It gets annoying when your discussing something like a specific episode or chapter and someone constantly buts in with, "That sucks, but then again the whole show has sucked since season 4 started" and then proceeds to derail the whole conversation while deriding anyone that expresses anything except absolute loathing for the property being discussed.

Of course, the criticism in the secret itself is valid as there's no reason a person should have to leave or stop watching something just because they think it's gone downhill. On the other hand, at some point even the more reasonable fans are going to get sick of your diatribes if your posting them outside of the actual discussions on show quality.

After awhile it starts to come off like you just want to shout your opinion at people rather than have an actual conversation, and that is every bit as annoying as the people who tell you to just stop watching at the slightest sign of criticism

I get that, and I've definitely come across fans who take the negativity a bit too far.

But for whatever reason the "everything must be about how much we LOVE everything fans" can get on my nerves more, I guess because it's a great way to shut down thoughtful discussion.

I think both sides need to not take discussion so seriously is the main thing, if fandom could have well reasoned and calm debates about these things we'd all be better off (but I know that will certainly never happen, I just wish it was more common then the constant screaming at each other type behavior in fandom.)

THIS THIS THIS. You have a criticism, that's fine, but when all you can talk about is how the last x number of seasons suck and this sucks and that sucks....

Yeah, i'm gonna get kinda pissed at you.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-17 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe you should learn how to skip past the comments then. Get pissed, but it's not that person's problem that you can't handle comments that you disagree with.

Wow, you *don't get it*.

I didn't say 'if you didn't like the show last night that i love, i hate you!!!'

I said 'people who have hated a show for the last, say, five seasons, and have *nothing* good to say about it, no matter what, get on my fucking tits.'

IS that more clear for you? Sheesh. People can criticism left, right and center, but when they find *not one thing* to like about a show for *literally* the last four seasons (or five or two, whatever) - then yes, i'm going to be very quickly *very* tired of their whinging.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-17 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
There's no need to be condescending, I understood what you were saying just fine. I have no problem reading positive comments even if I hate something and vice versa, so why should it be different for you?

It's your problem if you're getting angry. If you're tired of their whinging, then avoid them. It's as simple as that. It is not hard.

Unlike you, idgaf if what I've said is clear enough for you.

Did i say it *was* different for me? Pretty much the only place i ever talk about this, other than my own lj/im with friends is *here*, since someone has a secret like this once a month, it seems.

So, if they put up a secret about it, i'm gonna comment with my opinion on that secret. And if my opinion is contrary - that's kinda the point.

When this kind of thing happens, and i'm not the *only* person with a particular opinion, but i *am* the only person getting argued with, i have to wonder if it's because i'm the only one not anon.

Get over yourself.

Sorry to bother you here but I saw you mention this soemwher else and have to ask, can you link me to that epic TEEN WORF BABBYPIG (STILES) Mpreg fic? It was like 36 chapters with a lot of angsts, at first he didn't know who the father was because he hadn't felt anything when HOEKITCHEN (DEREK) raped him from behind, he thought it was just a massage (lol), and the POTATO almost died becayse he didn't notice he was in labor int he wheel chair. He was also worried about getting fat and bloated with fat ankles and anorexic for a while I hope you didn't take it off line it was soooooo good!

Wrong thread. Or - wrong author. At least one, if not both.

We used to get an almost identical comment about Glee characters last summer. This is some weird breed of troll not an actual inquiry. :)

Ah ha ha. How extremely odd.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-18 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
People can say whatever they want and behave however they want because others can just annoy them, yay!

I can spew racist and sexist and anti-Semitic garbage, and talk about killing people whom I don't like, and it's okay! No one should call me out, because I have the right to say what I want, and anyone who disagrees can just ignore me, yay!

(Anonymous) 2013-02-18 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Did you really compare disliking a show with being antisemitic, racist and batshit-insane? Let's throw in being a Nazi in it too, to round it up all nicely.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-18 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Umm sweetheart? You're a really big asshole. Hope that was clear enough for you.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-17 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
That's true and I don't disagree with any of this post, BUT on the other hand, people who live only to complain are INCREDIBLY FUCKING ANNOYING. I have this one friend who watches things JUST so he can complain about them, and it drives me up a fucking wall.
