I don't give a shit what books people have read, but when people express opinions about books they HAVEN'T read and refuse to consider reading, and take pride in not wanting to learn -- then it doesn't make me think better of their intelligence, no. That applies to people who dismiss genre and romance and fanfiction, sure, but it also applies to people who dismiss 'classics,' whatever they mean by that.

Yeah, gonna have to agree. It's like a hipster-esque "I'm not well-read because I'm edgy and too real for literature," thing. Sort... of opposite-pretentiousness.
