I have 'thin' hair. (I prefer to call it 'fine' because 'thin' has a more negative connotation attached to it) I've never had anyone say to me that my hair looked bad or unhealthy or that I was balding because it's thin?

I dunno, I feel pretty with my thin hair, I didn't know I was supposed to feel otherwise. :/

Same. Hell, it's easier to take care of. I don't have to run a brush through it a million times, less shampoo and conditioner needed, nor do my hair ties break after three uses. (I have several very-Italian female relatives, that's a common complaint about their thick hair)

The only complaint I have is that my hair doesn't keep curls without a gallon of mousse and hair spray. Otherwise? IDGAF that my hair is as fine as it is.

Rock on, fine-haired ladies. (and dudes) Rock on.

This is why I always at least two, and often three hair ties at the same time. They'll get stretched to the point of being unusable if I use just one but last forever if I use them together.
Anyway, I like my thick hair sometimes, but with the fashion for pin-straight hair and all that, I can definitely see the good sides of having finer hair.

...I've never thought to use more than one tie at a time. I has a smrt.

Seriously there are days when I wish my hair was half as thick as it is and that is one of the reasons. That and ridiculously poofy ponytails.

Also, there are fabric-type elastics that don't have the little 'join', so they *can't* break. Even though my hair is relatively thin, I always break the other sort by wrapping them too many times because I like it pulled back tightly. (Which, yes, probably contributes to the thinness and breakage, but that's another topic.)

I use those types of ties but they just lose strength after the first use :/.

Ah. Yeah, mine get completely stretched out of shape, but I have thin enough hair to continue using them anyway (particularly when wound as tight as I do them).

Breaking and over-stretching hair ties. Wow, yeah, that takes me back. I have ridiculously thick hair, but it's been a couple years since I had it long enough to tie back. But when I did, that happened to me ALL the time.

I love my thin hair. It's also incredibly soft and silky. I have a lot of friends who have really gorgeous curls, but their hair just feels coarse and rough (even though it's healthy) compared to mine.

I just said this in an above comment but there are two kinds of "thin" hair: fine hair and sparse hair.

Fine hair and thin hair are both things, and very, very different things.

Fine is hair texture, thin is hair density.

You can have thick, fine hair, or you can have thin, course hair, or thin/fine or thick/course. And, of course, both are in degrees.

+1 I have very fine hair, but it's really thick (like the other posters, I've broken many a pony tail holder). I wish it were much thinner, because as it is, it has no weight to hold it down so puffs out no matter how long it is. Getting a pageboy haircut was the dumbest thing I ever did.

My hair is thick and course. It's the bane of hair ties.

It's also got a natural wave.

It is HELLISH to try to keep it tamed. v_v

well, that's kind of the point, isn't it. the OP doesn't have fine hair, she has thin hair. you probably actually do have fine hair. they're two different things and they look different (at least i can tell the difference - i have a friend who is extremely insecure about her thin hair).

To be fair, thin, fine hair is more obviously thin than thin, course hair.

~fair, thin fine hair~

Five times fast!

I don't know, where I live a lot of people have hair that is both thin and fine, so I understand how people would assume it's the same thing. It just often goes together.
