I'm very picky about characterisation, to the point that I actually rarely read fanfiction for my OTP now because I just know most of it is either OOC, badly-written (by badly-written, I mean that the most prominent author for the ship doesn't seem to have acquainted herself with commas yet), or not to my taste (I adore curtain!fic - good look finding cute curtain!fic in Supernatural fandom unless it's one of the three most popular ships!). Yeah, these days I prefer to just write whatever it is I want to read. When I read it again in three months time, I'll read it like a stranger's writing and it'll be good for everyone.

Agreed, pretty much. When I initially get into a fandom, anything will do...but then I get picky and change my standards, and then I'm left with pretty much my own writing. Which I'm mostly okay with.

...out of curiosity, what exactly is curtain!fic?

Curtain!fic is basically fics with domestic fluff. I think it's named after fics where a ship goes out shopping for curtains for the new apartment or something.

Thanks for explaining. :) I'm a little surprised it's difficult to find in SPN fandom given the depressing canon, but fandom does weird things like that, I guess.

There's a ton of curtain!fic in SPN fandom but, judging by badass_tiger's icon, what they might mean is that there's not a lot of it for that character.

Perhaps it is! There's a lot of curtainfic for that show - sometimes too much, for my taste, and a lot of it is OOC, to me. I only like it if it adheres to my particulars, heh.

It's SamnDean gen, and it's probably one of my favorites. I don't know if it's up your alley (since it's not exactly fluffy, though it's bittersweet), but I thought it was pretty IC.
