I've never understood wanting to know personal information about the members of bands you're into. 9 times out of 10, I couldn't even tell you the names of most of the band members.

I just want to listen to the music.
That's ALL I care about.

I hate knowing the original intention behind songs, too.
Ugh. Way to kill my mental interpretation.
"This song isn't about being in an argumentative and sometimes violent relationship with your partner, it's about some girl who gets beaten and raped by her boyfriend."
Thank you for ruining that for me, forever.

Whoa, what song was that?

That's why 9 times out of 10 I avoid music videos and often even avoid seeing photos of musicians if I can help it. I don't want to picture them singing the song when I hear it, and I don't want their intent to crowd my interpretation. Exceptions, of course.

So you don't like live music?

For live music I prefer artists whose music I haven't heard, or ones I've already seen in photos or video for whatever reason (which doesn't bother me in every case, especially if they look like they sound to me). But my relationship with live music is also interesting because I have very low tolerance for loud noises, and the type of sound from loud amps / speakers can be particularly terrible. I like live music best when it's entirely acoustic, which usually doesn't apply to concerts of artists whose music I want to preserve in my mind. On top of that, if I do know a song well, live versions that vary it much tend to bother me.

/sorry for the essay..

I went to a concert a couple of years ago and had to step out in the middle of it because I was getting sick from the bass. Even as I loved the music and the performer.

There have been festivals and fairs that I've had to leave because of the deep bass.

For me the bass is usually more manageable, but there's some kind of sound in the midrange, from a guitar or who knows what, that feels like it fills my ears all the way up and it just hurts. I can't think anything but getting away from it.
