You know what? I am judging you OP. You're refusing the classics because what? They're "hard" to read? You're too cool for them? Some of them are wonderfully written, so, yeah, I pretty much judge anyone who refuses to read any of them. It's perfectly fine not to like all of them. (For instance, I despised The Scarlet Letter). But if you put down all of them, I assume you're not very intelligent.

I think the spelling gave that away already tbh.

Anyone can make a typo. Or the OP could be be dyslexic or ESL. A few spelling mistakes don't mean somebody is stupid.

I don't agree with them about "the classics" (which is a category so broad as to be nearly meaningless, IMO), but that doesn't men they're stupid either - they sound to me like someone who's been forced to read books they don't like at school and is rebelling against that.

You lack reading comprehension, OP says right there that they don't like them. They could have elaborated a bit on it, but not liking something is a valid reason to not read or watch or participate in the thing they do not like

No, you're the one who lacks reading comprehension. OP said that they haven't read the classics. You can't dislike something you haven't tried.

The so-called "classics" are so broad that it's asinine to say you don't like them after reading one or two. If you read a few sci-fi books and decide you don't like them, then, hey, that's fine because sci-fi novels tend to stick to certain themes/environments. If you read Kafka and Salinger and then write off all classics, then that's stupid because the classics contain a wide range of themes, writing styles, and plots.

You don't need to read an entire book to decide you don't like it. Sometimes a blurb is enough, sometimes a summary is enough and sometimes reading a single page at random is enough to decide you don't like it. I imagine even though OP clearly hasn't completed any of the books they've obviously encountered the contents at some point and disliked it.

OP shouldn't have to read through the entirety of several to validate their feelings on classics.

PLEASE TELL ME YOU HAVE A CAREER IN ACADEMIA, NO ONE ELSE WANTS YOU

By the by, I hope you make a habit of watching long-ass artsy silent movies on youtube in your free time, or perusing obscure Inca art and sculpture through Google images on your downtime at work, or listening to single-tambourine medieval ballads on your headphones during your commute. Because you obviously don't discriminate by time period in any OTHER medium, right? Never you~
