While no one can stop you from hate-watching, if you go to a fanspace of something just to rant on about how much you hate what they like, you need to understand that you aren't going to be popular. No one's going to be interested in what you have to say, and people are, yes, going to wonder why you're such a damn masochist. Think about a friend/acquaintance of yours that complains a lot in real life. After a while it gets really annoying, and you're like "God, so stop interacting with whatever it is you hate so much, and shut the fuck up already."

TL;DR - it's not your hate-watching that's annoying your friend, so much as the constant bitching, and "well why do you still watch it" is their way of trying to delicately hint at "please stop watching it so you'll finally shut the fuck up."

That's not necessarily true, big fandoms are often split down the middle between hate-watchers and like-watchers(?). Season to season you will see shifts in what is the apparent majority and what is in the minority.

So being a hate-watcher doesn't necessarily make you unpopular or annoying in certain sections of fandom.

Besides, OP apparently just wants to be left alone to hate-watch, which is understandable because I've seen people leave ONE comment about how they hate a season and the automatic response is "Well then GTFO." Often times a fan is just taking out other negative reviews on one person, regardless of if that person has even said anything before.

Well, to be specific, OP wants to be left alone to hate-watch and then rant - and ranting is interactive. While I've ranted about stuff myself, I think one has to accept that no one has a right to have their angry diatribes unchallenged, which is what OP seems to be wanting.

I agree that no rant posted publicly deserves to go unchallenged, but "stop watching/leave fandom" is trying to police what OP does with their life and that rarely leads to anything positive.

If OP had posted that they were tired of people disagreeing with their views I would have shrugged and said "Well that's fandom." But this also has to do with what OP does with their personal time and what they do with their time is their business.

OP

Ranting is interactive if I put it out there for people to see, and I do sometimes but not in a way that's in anyone's face. I even made a blog type thing so I wasn't cluttering up people's Twitter feeds and still I got "friends" and even random people asking me why I was watching [insert show]. I'm always ready to have a discussion with anyone, and I have had some with fans who like the show, who are perfectly okay with me not liking it. It's the other people that I have no time for, they could unfollow/defriend me, but they won't until it turns into a huge argument. I don't have time for that.

So... they're hate-reading you? And you don't get why they just won't stop reading?

LOL oh gosh this is delicious.

There is a certain je ne sais quoi to it.

da

Have to admit, I'm a bit confused why some people are following a...?hate blog? if they don't like what's being posted...

What are you, the fandumb police? You don't have some kind of right to tell OP's other commenters what they should or shouldn't do. They're reading that shit till it ends - get over it!

I didn't realise this was a rage button for you. jesusfuck calm down @_@ where the fuck did you get the idea i'm policing people from a question? Did you miss the DA or something?! I don't care who you follow, I was wondering why.

I believe that was a parody of vehement defenses elsewhere of the right to hatewatch.
