Sport bras are lovely if you're small like OP. Even the expensive high-quality ones aren't going to do much for someone over a C.

nayrt

I've seen them at Walmart in DD...?

Just because they sell them doesn't mean they're any good!

I don't know about those in particular, but just because they fit doesn't mean they're effective. My problem has always been that if a bra is big and/or stretchy enough to pull on over my head, it's too big and/or too stretchy to provide good support, and only in the last year or two have I started to see sports bras that had hook-and-eye closures instead of just being pull-ons.

Really? My sports bra is like half a decade old and it's hook-and-eye, and I don't ever recall a lack of hook-and-eye sports bras. If anything, the idea of a "pull on" bra, sports or otherwise, is weird to me, I rarely ever see them. o.O

I like your reality better. I believe I'll take it.

NAYRT

I've bought sports bras from REI (outdoor/adventuring gear & clothing store), Target, running stores, and Victoria's Secret, and they all pull over my head. The concept of sports bras that fasten in the back is bizarre and actually sort of disturbing to me (I wear sports bras so/when I don't have to deal with bras that fasten at all). They just seem much less secure and supportive. How can they hold your breasts against your chest if they don't have all that back material to brace against? Doesn't the back ride up when you're doing sport-y and bendy things?

Granted, I'm a barrel-chested girl (extremely wide/broad ribcage) with tiny tits, so finding a sports bra that fits and functions properly is like the exact opposite problem of 30DD anon above, but still. I can't believe you've never seen pull-over-head sports bras, as they're the most common kind (though I guess the fact that you're shopping at lulu lemon may kind of explain it, as their products are extremely expensive and generally the people that buy them are boutique/niche shoppers who have never seen the inside of a wal-mart/low end department store in their life because they don't need to worry about saving money). I actually have to look hard to find sports bras that *don't* pull over my head, and they're usually in the plus-size or huge-boobs racks.

this is relmneiko, too lazy to login

Not at all. I agree with the above anon who said if you can pull it over your head it's too loose. The band should not be able to pull over the mound of your breasts. Unless maybe you're an A cup.

So you're calling me priviliged and ignorant, basically? Nice try, my family was on welfare for most of my childhood. It has been about a decade since I bought a bra at WalMart, so there might have been pull-overs there but I quickly figured out that their underwear is shit and that low quality costs you. I got a job in high school and bought expensive designer bras because cheap ones fall apart in a couple months and gave me back pain. In the long run, a 50 dollar bra that lasts you a year of hard wear is more bang for your buck.

I wear the Londsdale brand and they go at least up till DD, maybe more. And they're not overly expensive at all.

Seriously, it's a brand thing more than anything. Sports bras for larger sizes do exist and don't suck!

(Anonymous) 2013-02-18 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
But can you find them with big cups AND small bands? Loose bands mean you just fall out the bottom of the cups, too-small cups leave you bulging out around the sides. In either case, yuck.

Honestly, it's hearsay on my part. My friends were talking about it recently. My fat ass needs to get one, as the one I did buy was
1. cheap
2. too small by the time i wanted to wear it

This is what they were talking about specifically, good luck ;-;

but in retrospect, i dont even see what is apparently my size so lol2me...

(Anonymous) 2013-02-18 07:25 am (UTC)(link)
And every brand's 'size' is different - to this point, I've stuck with the 'devil you know' approach, aka, the best-fitting one I can find by trying them on in department stores, rather than ordering online and having to pay return fees if it isn't right.

I have G-cups and found a sports bra that works for me. Granted, it was over $40, but it's worth it, especially because I do sports and regular bras don't cut it at all.

(Anonymous) 2013-02-18 10:03 am (UTC)(link)
...what's your band size, because I wear a 28F and the one sports bra I was able to find in that size cost me 70$.

I wear 'em over my regular bra. Love it. F/G cup, for the record.
