Look. I don't police hate-watching. I don't police hate-tagging on Tumblr and I think the people in my fandoms who attack anyone who 'tags hate' are assholes. (I think fandoms that are overrun with tagged hate should make a squee-specific tag like the Elementary fandom did, it's a good way to keep the peace without stepping on anyone else's toes)

But I do request courtesy in my personal journal and in one on one conversations. A while ago I had a fandom friend and we had a few mutual interests, but she couldn't resist extremely vitriolic bashing of a character I liked every time they were mentioned. It was like an auto-reflex---someone anywhere on the internet mentions this character, she has to come and call the character a useless bitch and insult their fans. I was censoring my fandom posts to remove all mention of the hated character to avoid another fight before I finally called my friend on it.

tldr: Cool, just don't be the police on the opposite end, telling people what they are and aren't allowed to like.
