Slaughterhouse 5... it's almost sci-fi, it's really philosophy, war is bad.
Nine Stories... it's short stories, you see the world through salinger.
(both of these are "am i laughing or crying more, right now? ow, my heart." books)
TKAMockingbird... because Scout.
Great Expectations... because Estella.
Anything James Baldwin... because gay.
iiii don't know dude, some classics suck, but I'd be a nutcase if modern fiction was my only option.
