I don't believe that female-on-male rape is as awful and traumatic as any other kind of rape (unless it's incest or pedophilia).

Double standard or not, I will never forget the smile on my friend's face and the pride in his voice when he described how a girl he refused to sleep with at a party waited for him to get smashed and then attempted to have sex with his half-conscious body. He got a lot of back-pats from freinds for that too. I have a hard time believing that his and everyone else's reaction would've been the same if the genders were swapped.

Rape is someone being forced to do sexual things with someone they don't want to do sexual things with, period. I really wonder why people have a hard time understanding this, or if you're just one of those people who assumes that rape isn't rape unless there's full-on violent penetration into an unwilling body.

NOT TO MENTION, you actually have no idea what effect that incident truly had on him. and that's honestly the worst thing about female-on-male rape, besides the fact that it happens. we have a culture that would shame a man for any reaction outside of your friend's and his friends's.

Okay I'm going to break the combo here by saying that I actually do think adult female victims of rape by men get a shittier deal than adult male victims of rape by women simply because there are a lot more societal hangups about sex and women's sexuality and a hell of a lot more judging and shaming of women for sexual experiences, consensual or not, than there are about men's.

That said, one dudebro's feeling about his nonconsensual sexual experience does not speak for every other male rape victim's. Rape is horrible and traumatic no matter what the sex of the perpetrator.

Personally, I think it's rather pointless to compare which is worst out of being victim-blamed ("it was your own fault") or being gaslighted ("no, in fact you liked it").

IOW, both are shitty, and I don't see anything good coming out of arguing over which is worse.

There's some asshole out there running around free and mounting half-conscious people against their will and what you can never forget is that your friend didn't have a reaction to it that you consider appropriate? ~*~Priorities~*~.

Trust me, women get a lot of the same treatment: "But but but she wasn't crying, she wasn't beat up, seemed calm and collected, so nothing that bad must have happened, right? I mean, it wasn't rape-rape, right?" Right.
