I don't care for it. I don't like the design at all; it's ugly and it looks like a horrible cross between an Audino and a Buneary. That particular shade of pink has also been used like what, a dozen times now? It's not original and it also isn't as sleek-looking (imo) as almost all the other Eeveelutions.

I hope it's Light-type because if it is I'll be really happy that Light exists, but if there are other Light Pokémon I will probably choose them over Sylveon.

I agree with this comment.

Cute and/or girly can be done right (See: Skitty, Jigglypuff, Shinx, Chansey, Togepi, Sentret, Vulpix, the older Eeveeline, Cyndaquil, etc. I mean, just look at the list here:

but this particular design is very inspired. Limited color palettes aren't an excuse now, so they could definitely have used some different colors to make it pop up more (would it have killed them to balance the pink out with a darker color or something seriously) and while the bows are a suitably disturbing idea, they're just... sort of slapped in the most boring way possible.

Someone up-thread said that the elemental type was immediately obvious in the older designs, and that's another good point; it really helped the entire evolution line become so memorable.

But yeah some dark (black or navy blue) to contrast the pink would have been great. I just feel the design was made to appeal to tropes, kind of like Pachirisu and Emolga, which is part of the reason I don't like them either. I understand why they were made, though.

Such a good point about the other evolutions! I wasn't paying much attention when Glaceon and Leafeon were released, but if their designs were released before their types (and even their names) I bet people would have been able to guess them with pinpoint accuracy. It's quite obvious what elements they're supposed to embody - same with the other five (yes, even Umbreon and Espeon, whose types are more abstract, are dead ringers for Dark and Psychic).

I agree with you on Pachirisu and Emolga; I can see what they were going for, it just doesn't appeal to me either

I think Pokémon is approaching that point where Pokémon are going to sort of start melding together; they really really really need to vary up their palettes and designs from now on or they'll start losing their "identify/collect your favorites" appeal

Oh, idk about that. A lot of people have reacted very positively to Sylveon (and there's nothing wrong with that). People kept avidly collecting and talking about faves into Gen V and I think they'll keep doing it even if a lot of the designs are rehashed and recycled because people who like a certain thing will want more of it. Most of us have patterns to what we like.

Cyndaquil is really one of the most adorable Pokémon in the history of ever. I don't really like raising "cute" Pokeémon on my teams but I love having art of them and squealing about how cute they are lol. (Icon very relevant.)
