bah. i hardly use tumblr, and i wish i could like it more. i miss participating in fandom but i just can't get into it for the life of me.

Tumblr is not a good fandom place unless all you want out of it is fanart and pictures, in my opinion. I think LJ, DW and even AO3 are 100 times better for actually being part of fandom.

i feel like lj and dw are so inactive these days compared to tumblr. maybe i'm into the wrong fandoms.

They are slower than they were, that's true, but there's just no real way to have a conversation with anyone on Tumblr. I *like* GC here at FS - i like the meta discussions at various comms, and trading ideas and arguments in comments. I like even giddy fangirl squee where we point out the stuff we liked the most.

Tumblr has awesome art/image resources, but i don't feel 'fannish' over there. I see awesome art and i can't even say so. I can reblog, but I can't tell the artist, with a simple click, why i like their art so much, what about the image attracts me.

I guess it depends on your focus and what you like the most. I'm mostly only fannish about Supernatural, and I feel like there is plenty of stuff going on at LJ/DW to support my fannish needs.
