Whenever I see a pretty person in fandom I'm immediately shocked. In my mind I seem to think that most fandom people will probably look like fat greasy nerds or something.

It always kind of surprises me when people express this kind of opinion. Maybe it's because a lot of my irl friends like fandom? Many of them are attractive or at least passable by conventional standards (for what those are worth, anyway).

Also, is "fat greasy nerds" supposed to be a type? You make it sound like only fat/greasy people can be nerds. lol

You must not be in the cosplay/going to cons part of fandom. Pretty people are everywhere.

What's your opinion on pretty? You could just mean people with low bmi and basic hygiene. I'm sure there are a lot of people who fit both those definitions and aren't considered pretty by most people.

Now that I think about it we've had some rather shockingly pretty people share pics on f!s. I wasn't shocked they were in fandom necessarily they just seem prettier than most girls I know irl. I guess they could have been meticulously selected but most seemed casual.
