I just came here to comment about the supposed "Light-type" people are talking about.

If they are going to make a new type, it's not going to be called Light-type. In japanese, they do not use the word dark, or an absence of light, to describe the type. They use the kanji for "evil" or "bad". So if there were going to be a counter-type to Dark, it would be Good-type or Hero-type.

I don't think they'll even make a new type to counter dark anyway cause it's already pretty balanced.

Might be "good" or "hero" in Japanese but I bet it won't be in English if that does happen. It would make way more sense for them to make it Light.

Also, it honestly surprises me that they do that because the way Pokémon are portrayed it's strongly implied that it's not even really possible for a Pokémon to be evil...

Also, my personal hope (probably not gonna happen, but hey...) is that they'd put in a new type to counter Dragon, not Dark.

This. And then there's the issue about what light type would even be weak against. You could do a vicious cycle where dark is weak to light and vice-versa, but like you said, types are more or less balanced now.

A friend of mine commented on that and said that the Fighting-type is called something more like "honorable" in Japanese, which would make that the hero type. Is that true? It makes some sense to me.

Nope; japanese-speaking friend of mine told me the word they use in japanese for the fighting-type is just "fighting" or "martial arts". So there's really no other meaning in english!
