Eh. The Doctor Who fandom has its share of awfulness, but it feels like the awfulness is a lot more spread out?

Like the show is so diverse and expansive that you get the Classic Who fans and New Who fans and then the subsets of RTD Era fans and Moffat Era fans. And people tend to generally stick to their own area.

So it's harder to make general statements about Doctor Who fandom since it's so big and varied.

True. I think wank and other incidents in big fandoms don't always get spread around, especially when you are talking about pre-internet fandoms that have a history of crazy. In big fandoms sometimes people just stay in their corner and don't interact with others so certain information just does not reach everyone.

I've had to watch the battle between two of the sets of Who fans on my flist. Over Daleks, of all things.

I'm not even into Doctor Who.
