You should consider yourself lucky not to have those problems, but unless you have been retained as their therapist, their problems are not your problems, and you should not feel guilty about not wanting to be covered in them at all times.

this. you're not obligated to be anything to them and it is completely okay and your right to step away from a situation that's draining you and that you don't like.

on the flip side, don't be an ass. yes, yes you should consider yourself lucky.
